As specialists in the state of Rhode Island in the treatment of allergy related problems, we emphasize personal attention and education with allergy related problems such as: asthma, allergies, hives, allergic reactions, bee-sting reactions, poison ivy, eczema, chronic cough, and sinus problems.
We also participate with the Institutional Review Board’s approved studies, typically sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. Our participation in clinical research trials allows us to further advance our expertise in the asthma and allergy field.
Meet Our Staff
John Franklin Zwetchkenbaum, M.D.
Dr. John Zwetchkenbaum received his allergy and asthma training at the world renowned National Jewish Center in Denver, Colorado. He is a clinical instructor at Brown University Medical School and has been repeatedly voted a “Top Doc” in RI Monthly Magazine. Dr. Zwetchkenbaum is also involved in clinical research studies to keep his edge with the latest advances in his field.
Joseph S. Zhou, PhD., M.D.
Dr. Zhou is board certified in pediatrics, allergy, and immunology, and he received his medical degree from Xi’an Medical University in Xi’an, China. He completed his fellowship in allergy and immunology at the Boston Children’s Hospital in the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Zhou is also an assistant professor in Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine. His special interests lie in food allergy, asthma, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and urticaria (hives) just to name a few.
Deborah Katcher-Buckley FNP-BC
Deborah is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Boston College. She has years of experience in laboratory medicine, with a focus on immunology and immunohematology. Her background also includes experience in primary care, urgent care, and asthma/allergy. Deborah’s special interests are dermatitis and helping patients manage food allergies.
Elena Pavlik Lvov, RN, MSN, FNP-C
Elena is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Southern Adventist University. She is results-driven, a quick-learner, and completely involved with patient care. Her strengths include being dependable and an honest team player passionate about helping others. Elena is skilled communicator with the ability to maintain cultural sensitivity, establish rapport with members of diverse groups, and promote team cohesiveness.
Amanda Matteson, PA-C
Amanda received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Chatham College. She has been with AAPRI since 2005 and has specialty training in clinical research. Amanda has a love of pediatrics and treats every patient as if they were family. She thrives in helping her patients’ lead happy and healthy lives while dealing with their asthma and allergy diagnoses.
Kaitlin Taginski, PA-C
Kaitlin has been a medical provider at AAPRI since January 2012. Originally from western Massachusetts, she attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, where she entered the Entry Level Masters of Physician Assistant Studies 6-year program. She received both her Bachelor of Science, and her Master of Health Science of Physician Assistant Studies through this program. She has particular interest in environmental allergies and the role of desensitization through the sublingual/subcutaneous immunotherapy.
Nancy Pirraglia, L.P.N.
Nurse Nancy Pirraglia has been with the practice over 15 years and knows her allergies. Patients enjoy her calming touch.
